Day of the Dead

Monday, October 23rd, 2017

Every year, Day of the Dead is celebrated around the world on November 1st and 2nd but the holiday itself originated from the Mexican culture with many rituals and traditions marking this day and commemorating the dead is a true celebration of life.

The belief is to remember and honour your deceased loved ones.

“The gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31 and the spirits of all deceased children (angelitos) are allowed to reunite with their families for 24 hours. On November 2, the spirits of the adults come down to enjoy the festivities that are prepared for them.”

On this day, there is a big fiesta with lots of food, drinks and feting.

Candles, flowers skulls and photos of loved ones decorate altars. Drinks are mixed as quenching the thirst of the dead after their spirits return is practiced. Favourite meals and sweets of the deceased are placed on the altar as well.

For the sweet offering, why not bake up a batch of skulled themed cookies.  The Sweet Spirits Cookie Cutters are great for your Day of the Dead celebrations.
This cookie cutter set comes in 4 spirited colours: blue, green, orange and purple.

In the spirit of Halloween, we give you this fun mashup!

The Addams Family is one of TV’s most influential twentieth century family.  As being one of those classic Halloween TV viewing traditions, we are all bound to watch them for the millionth time as they put us in the mood for the season of the spook.

Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones is one of those epic vinyl loving songs that put us in the mood to party.

Gabriel Magallon has put a new spin on this Addams Family TV clip by remixing dance clips to the Ramones’ Blitzkrieg Bop.

As you can see,

First Day of Autumn

Thursday, September 21st, 2017

Tick tock, tick tock…Soon it will be the summer of 2017 that was. When the calendar changes tomorrow, a new season is upon us.

Welcome first day of Autumn!

Although we are still in the throes of summer heat, coloured leaves, fall harvest, crisp air, sweaters, socks, warm drinks, pumpkins, turkey and Halloween are all creeping up!

Summer is officially coming to a close and Autumn 2017 will begin on Friday September 22 when the clock strikes 4:02 PM. That means we are into the third season and all sorts of fun, fall festivities can take place: Raking leaves and then jumping into a pile, fall decorating, celebrating Oktoberfest, attending a fall festival, hiking, getting lost in a corn maze, apple picking, canning fruit, going for a hayride, visiting a pumpkin patch, Trick or Treating and last but not least, remembering what you are thankful for. The Canadian Thanksgiving is on October 9th. We give thanks for the the harvest and the love and support family and friends give.

With all these mentioned, we have so much to look forward to.

What is your favourite Autumn activity?

Are  you sure you bought everything for your back to school shopping needs? I bet you didn’t know your tablet needs a personalized, comfortable place for when it’s not in use. It also needs a bodyguard to keep all the nasty dust mites and saliva away from it.

The Doodle Case for the iPad Mini makes a fun gift for your Ipad Mini or perhaps someone else you know who has one. Not only will this case keep your gadget snug and warm but you can design and personalize the cushiony case with your own creative, doodling skills. Draw your own design, jot down notes or contacts and when you are bored of your creations, pop it into the washing machine and then personalize it again and again. Pages of a notepad are featured all over the case. It also comes with 5 wash-out fabric mini pens that you can use to doodle with.

Not only is this fun but a practical gift as well. You can doodle a personal design or message before giving.
