Space Cookie Cutters

Thursday, February 21st, 2019

Imagine creating a galaxy that is not far away but in your very own kitchen?

Are you looking for an adventurous, out of this world cookie baking idea for your kids to bake from scratch in the kitchen or a birthday party idea?

This will entice all the cookie connoisseurs in your household.

Let us introduce you to the Space Cookie Cutters.

Space Cookie Cutters

Bake your own 3D Space Ships. Choose from cookie cutters that come in the shape of a rocket, a shuttle, a star fighter and a space buggy. Cut out the cookie dough, bake them in the oven and then slot the cookies together to make edible space ships.

As for a kind of cookie to bake, let us suggest chocolate chip cookies.

Out of interest, are you curious to know who invented the chocolate chip cookie?

After a little research, a woman by the name of Ruth Wakefield not Ruth Bader Ginsburg but another Ruth invented them.

“Along with her husband Kenneth, she bought a tourist lodge named the Toll House Inn, where she prepared the recipes for meals that were served to guests.

In 1930, Wakefield was mixing a batch of cookies for her roadside inn guests when she discovered that she was out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted broken pieces of Nestle’s semi-sweet chocolate, expecting it to melt and absorb into the dough to create chocolate cookies. That didn’t happen, but the surprising result helped to make Ruth Wakefield one of the 20th century’s most famous women inventors. When she removed the pan from the oven, Wakefield realized that she had accidentally invented “chocolate chip cookies.”

At the time, she called her creations “Toll House Crunch Cookies.” They became extremely popular locally, and the recipe was soon published in a Boston newspaper. As the popularity of the Toll House Crunch Cookie increased, the sales of Nestle’s semi-sweet chocolate bars also spiked. Andrew Nestle and Ruth Wakefield decided to come up with an agreement. Nestle would print the Toll House Cookie recipe on its package, and Wakefield would be given a lifetime supply of Nestle chocolate. Due to this unexpected discovery by a famous woman inventor, the chocolate chip cookie became the most popular variety of cookie in America, a distinction it still holds to this day.” http://www.women-inventors.com

Spring Toys

Thursday, April 19th, 2018

Spring is a time to get outside and enjoy the warm temperatures. That being said, it is April 19th and there is still snow on the ground. On the weekend, there was a treacherous spring-time storm with an awesome mix of snow, ice and rain. It was a big skating rink for a few days. The good news is this snow can’t stay forever and eventually there will be shades of spring. In fact, a bird just flew by… so stay tuned!

Spring Toys to Get the Kids Outside

Getting the kids off the tablet and playing outside is the healthy thing to do not only for the body but the mind too. For some, this is a real challenge but for others, it’s an easy task if you provide fun spring toys, activities and adventures. Making sure boredom doesn’t ooze in is a job itself but the Mini OgoDisk sure will bust that and create long-lasting play for the young and young at heart. It is essentially a mini trampoline or flying disc that fits in your hands that catches and throws balls up to 150 feet. It comes with a rubber koosh ball and the goal is to bounce the ball back and forth between the disks. You can use it for tennis, volleyball and baseball as well. Not only is this great for spring “when it arrives” but for a hot summer day too by tossing around a water balloon. The Mini OgoDisk will make a great gift for all ages, toddler to adult creating endless active, varieties of play.

National Unicorn Day!

Monday, April 9th, 2018

Happy National Unicorn Day! That’s right, you read right. Did you know there is such a day to commemorate this magical white horse like creature? In this day in age,  where there is a day to celebrate anything and everything from Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day to Make Your Dreams Come True Day we are not surprised. My favorite is Festival of Sleep Day which is ideal as it falls after New Years Eve on January 3rd. Did you also know the unicorn is the national animal of Scotland? Yup, you read right again. Yea, two for two! As everyone needs a little bit of magic and amusement in this thing called life,  today is all about celebrating unicorns. For some, unicorns do exist but some naysayers feel unicorns “supposedly” only captivate our imagination and live in a far-away make-believe land with rainbows and sparkles.

If you are a non believer,  close your eyes and imagine just for a minute,  these beasts are real and the mysterious but none the less enchanting unicorn will benefit all for just being in an imaginary existence. A unicorn is kind of like an introvert, silent but very caring and intuitive. As everyone has to entertain their inner unicorn, Danna Bananas has some unicorn inspired gifts for you to check out.

Congratulations Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on your royal engagement! The worst kept secret has become official. Ride With The Queen

Ride With The Queen Car Sticker

Nobody wants to be alone in their car. Chauffeur the Queen of England around town and be giddy about the happy couple together. Simply peel off the car sticker and place the Queen’s head on the exterior rear passenger window. Your Majesty will sit on the rear side. Ride with The Queen will attract a lot of attention so make sure your car is sparkling clean.

The Ride With The Queen Car Decal will have everyone doing a double take and will evoke a lot of rip roaring chuckles. To greet the Queen, one must curtsy.  Be prepared for people curtsying on street corners as you drive by with the monarch. One more piece of advice, a spot of tea is recommended for your joy ride.

The Ride With the Queen car sticker makes a great Christmas Gift for the monarchist in your life. Check out more hilarious Christmas gift ideas at Danna Bananas.
