November is Movember

Tuesday, November 6th, 2018

The Month Formerly Know as November – Movember

Start your engines…No, your stubble and get growing!

It is that time to bring awareness to prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s health issues.

In reality,  this matter should be discussed every month but with November here, we mean Movember, it’s given a special honor throughout this particular month.

During Movember, mustaches (moustaches, stache, mouth brow, flavour savour, soup strainer, lip foliage etc.) are grown. Some do it with enthusiasm and some with disdain but at the end of the month it is for a good cause.

Participants collect donations from family, friends or work-mates for their growing efforts so this disease can be obliterated.

Thank you for sacrificing your upper lip to help abolish prostate cancer and men’s health issues. Clean shaven to stubble, to a full grown stache after thirty days, equals a celebration of the mo and your contribution of funds and awareness!

We have a great new product to honour Movember and your mustachey, hairy accomplishment that you will be nuts about!:)

National Unicorn Day!

Monday, April 9th, 2018

Happy National Unicorn Day! That’s right, you read right. Did you know there is such a day to commemorate this magical white horse like creature? In this day in age,  where there is a day to celebrate anything and everything from Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day to Make Your Dreams Come True Day we are not surprised. My favorite is Festival of Sleep Day which is ideal as it falls after New Years Eve on January 3rd. Did you also know the unicorn is the national animal of Scotland? Yup, you read right again. Yea, two for two! As everyone needs a little bit of magic and amusement in this thing called life,  today is all about celebrating unicorns. For some, unicorns do exist but some naysayers feel unicorns “supposedly” only captivate our imagination and live in a far-away make-believe land with rainbows and sparkles.

If you are a non believer,  close your eyes and imagine just for a minute,  these beasts are real and the mysterious but none the less enchanting unicorn will benefit all for just being in an imaginary existence. A unicorn is kind of like an introvert, silent but very caring and intuitive. As everyone has to entertain their inner unicorn, Danna Bananas has some unicorn inspired gifts for you to check out.

Unicorn Colour Changing Light for National Unicorn Day

This night light features real life characteristics similar to a unicorn. The Unicorn Colour Changing Light has a spiraling, large, pointed horn projecting from it’s forehead and for a bonus of cuteness, rainbow colored hair. It will not only light up your room but your life too with a rainbow of LED multi-coloured fun lights.

Remember tomorrow is Siblings Day.

Valentine’s Day Love

Wednesday, January 31st, 2018

Is sending a Valentine’s Day card to the special people in our lives passé? The same question goes for Christmas cards? If you send out Christmas cards,  I then believe the answer is no. Once or twice a year, pay it forward, support your postal service and buy that stamp. Snail mail still needs to be utilized as it can’t disappear. Many people rely on it. More on that in a another blog post. We all sent out Valentines when we were young in elementary school. Why can’t we do so as adults? Have a little heart-to-heart and write your main squeeze a sweet (or spicy) Valentine’s Day love letter.

Egg-Citing Easter Tradition

Sunday, April 5th, 2015

Egg-Citing Easter Tree

The German tradition of decorating a tree with Easter eggs called Ostereierbaum is Egg-Citing! Volker Kraft and his wife Christa have been decorating their apple tree in their garden in Saalfeld, Germany since 1965. The couple spends up to four weeks decorating the tree with their collection of 10,000 colourful hand-decorated Easter eggs in preparation for Easter celebrations. In 1965, they used 18 plastic eggs. The count has presently grown to 10,000 eggs annually and has captured the eyes of 10,000 people visiting their place. Enjoy the view as this is the last year for these lovely egg decorations.

Happy Easter!

Have Fun in the Snow – Blizzard of 2015

Friday, January 30th, 2015

After the heavens opened and the blizzard of 2015 left its mark, it is safe to say this white stuff is going to stick around for awhile. We have no choice but to embrace it (literally) and have fun in the snow. Danna Bananas has compiled a few cool ideas to make play time in the great, cold outdoors fun and exciting!

We all need shelter in this world to survive. Warmth is one of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Not only do we need shelter from the environment but we need protection from that spur of the moment snow fight so building a wall is an essential shield to protect one self. The Sno-Brick Maker is not only perfect for creating snow forts, sculptures and igloos in the wintertime but need we say it is ideal for building sand castles in the summertime beach and the yard. This Year round outdoor fun toy is light and durable.

Once you lay down your foundation for your snow fort, the next step is to decorate it and give it some ‘home sweet home’ personality. With the invention of Sno-Markers, you can decorate with a variety of colours. They are liquid crayons that will revolutionize fun activities in the snow. What’s your favourite colour? Choose from a varying ray of colours: blue, green, orange or red. Need some entertaining ideas to combat those, “I am bored blues”? Sno-Markers are also perfect for your inner artist or a budding young artist. You can create coloured, wintery masterpieces directly in the snow. Play some fun games like Tic-tac-toe or Hopscotch. The choices are endless with this creative invention. They are safe and non-toxic.

Sno-Marker-Rainbow

Frosty, a jolly happy soul, with a corncob pipe and a button nose” made building snowmen cool back in the day but with the 2014 introduction of the character, “Olaf” in “Frozen“, we are safe to say snowmen are still cool and are here to stay. The Sno-Man Kit is fun box of surprises and crafty supplies to help dress up your snowperson so they are as cute as can be.

Sno-Man-Kit-Contents

Kickstart your wild imagination with Sno-Stompers. Stomp and roar making tracks like a dinosaur in the snow. They easily snap over boots and shoes. The Sno-Stompers are easy to take on and off and could also be used during summertime for making footprints in the sand. When your neighbours are not looking, why not leave tracks and keep them guessing.

Movember – Shave The Date – Are you Moustache Ready?

Saturday, October 18th, 2014

It’s official, Movember is just around the corner!
November has been replaced with this annual month-long celebration of the moustache. It was conceived in 2003. The campaign’s aim is for men around the world to grow moustaches to raise awareness for  prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s health issues. Not only is this event for Mo Bros but for Mo Sistas as well. Can’t grow your own, no worries we got you covered! We are all about supporting a good cause! A Mo Bro starts Movember clean shaven and then by the end of month a moustache is fully sprouted. Throughout, donations are contributed from family, friends and work-mates. The Prostate Cancer Foundation will use the money raised by Movember to fund research to find better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer. If you see someone sporting a mouth brow, lip foliage, soup strainer or whatever you call it, don’t hesitate- Donate!

So whether you prefer mustache or moustache, you’re sure to find something that tickles your fancy here.

“The Pom Selleck”

Ingredients

  • 3 cups pomegranate juice
  • 1 1/4 cups vodka
  • 1 cup triple sec
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 cups seltzer
  • ice

Directions

  1. Combine the pomegranate juice, vodka, triple sec and lime juice in a pitcher; refrigerate until cold. Just before serving, add the seltzer. Pour the mixture into tall, ice-filled glasses and serve each with a Moustache Straw ($7.95).

How about some sweet snacks? The Munchstache Mustache Cookie Cutters ($10.95) includes 5 different moustache styles, all of which are made from durable food-safe plastic and come packaged in a reusable storage tray.

Spruce up your evening and indulge your decadent side with some nice wine. This Handlebar Corkscrew & Bottle Opener ($11.95) will come in handy. This mustache shaped corkscrew will open any wine bottle with ease, but also pulls double duty as a fully functional bottle opener

End off the evening with a hilarious game of Ha! Ha! Moustache Name That ‘Stache Game ($7.95).
